Nathan Weinberg met brothers Steve Mabee and Davey Rowe-Mabee 14 years ago and began a multi-faceted partnership that continues to grow and thrive. It was through this partnership that they began to understand the importance of coffee shops in supporting neighborhoods and in building community. In 2018, they founded Retrograde along historic Dickerson Pike on the outskirts of East Nashville to become a true neighborhood coffee stop. Soon after, they began roasting their own coffee–and expanding into both established and other emerging neighborhoods across Nashville. Now, Retrograde supports a growing list of other independently owned businesses focused on serving high quality, distinctive coffees.  Retrograde and its family of companies is proud to create community centers where they don’t exist and to support neighborhoods by fostering partnership in the spirit of neighbors.
